NO BUT I WILL
We were extremely pleased to secure this son of Grade 1 winning sire Telescope, the sire of the 2024 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle winner, Slade Steel. His dam, Little Carmela, who is by Beat Hollow the sire of 2021 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Minella Indo, was a five-time winner under rules, winning three times on all-weather and twice over hurdles, reaching a career high of 117 over obstacles.
This lightly raced seven year old gelding got off the mark at the first time of asking when winning a point to point at Curraghmore, Ireland. Switched to the UK, he placed in novice and maiden hurdles, before finishing a half-length second off his opening mark in a maiden hurdle to Sam Thomas’ Ed Keeper, who is now rated 138. After such a promising run, No But I Will won a novice hurdle next time out off a mark of 116 at Bangor-On-Dee, with the Racing Post commenting “kept on well run-in, won going away”. In November 2023, he won on his chase debut at Wetherby in a competitive handicap before losing his way somewhat.
No But I Will, is in training with Robbie Llewellyn who we have already had great success with, identifying horses who need a change of scenery and training regime to unlock their potential, and we hope we’ve found another one here.
No But I Will, will have a break over the summer before resuming training on 1st July 2024 for the 24/25 National Hunt season. The syndicate term is one year rolling and we plan for the syndicate to compromise of 4 x 25% stake holders. If two people would like to form a partnership for a 25% share between them, this will be accepted.
Trainer Robbie Llewellyn comments:
“No But I Will is a lovely son of Telescope.
He started off his racing career winning a point to point at the first time of asking in Ireland, which was followed by placed efforts in novice and maiden hurdles before winning a novice hurdle at Bangor last season, and this season, he won a handicap chase at Wetherby before slightly losing his way.
He looks to be on a nice handicap mark and we’ll look to tackle staying chases with him next season.
We are hopeful that a summer break and a change of yard will get him back on track, and he should provide lots of fun for his owner’s next season.”
